Emile L’Humbert (1872-1933) studied with Mougenot and Derazey. In 1906, he moved to Paris and made instruments inspired by the great Italian classics for Parisian luthiers. Generally his oil varnish varied from light red to reddish brown or orange. He is considered one of the best modern French luthiers.
This beautiful and later example, bearing the label Georges Cunault, is in excellent condition. It has a power, clarity, and depth. It is accompanied by a certificate from Rampal Vatelot.
